Using Samsung Galaxy S5 (SPRINT) SM-G900P Internationally
How to change the APN settings on the Samsung Galaxy S5 (SPRINT) and make it work internationally:
1. Request Sprint iDCS to do a UICC unlock for the device.
2. Once confirmation is received from iDCS go to your phone's settings.
3. Settings -> General -> System Update -> UICC Unlock
4. Press UICC Unlock
5. If successful it should say the profile has been updated.
6. Power off the device
7. Remove the Sprint SIM card and insert Foreign SIM card.
8.Power on the device and go to phone's settings.
9 Settings -> Connections -> More networks -> Mobile networks -> Network mode; now change the LTE/CDMA to GSM/UMTS (should automatically restart the device)
10. Once the device is back on; Settings -> Connections -> More networks -> Mobile networks -> Network operators; click on the + symbol on the top right corner now you can add a custom APN for your foreign network.

DeleteWhat firmware are you running? If you are running lolipop 5.0.1 or higher the process is a little different since you CANNOT downgrade from this firmware version and the ssu.apk app does not work.

ReplyDeleteYou need to have an active account with Sprint, and with that just call in Customer Care they will direct you to the correct department. (most of the time...)

You a Sprint SIM card for the UICC unlock but you do not need to be connected to the network. It works over WIFI.
@ Gihan Mello
Yes you can unlock it for GSM use but it does have limitation, especially when it comes to data connection. (Most likely 3G)
Good day all, i recently bought a G900P locked to virgin mobile but when i go under Mobile Network/Preferred Network Mode i only see LTE/CDMA and CDMA i DON'T see the GSM option anywhere, is this normal, i thought this could have worked in both GSM and CDMA? Is this strictly a CDMA phone???
ReplyDeleteHi, I have found the solution for this problem. I was in the same situation. Contact me to guide you, it is easy.
DeleteOhhh that sounds great, could you please guide me, i would really appreciate it, thanks.
DeleteThe easier way to make it work is to use this app http://d-h.st/492 on your rooted phone. Select Sprint and you are done. The phone will wipe your data so a backup is a must if there is something important for you.
Deleteniceeeee, thanks a million, worked like a charm. any idea how to get mobile data working now lol
Deletehi there, i have a Galaxy S5 G900P which is from Sprint in the USA. I am using it in New Zealand. I have unlocked it and then it has has allowed me to use it for calling/txting by simply changing mobile networks to UMTS via the settings menu (my carrier is UMTS only, no GSM) which is great but I can not use data as I can not change the APN. can someone help? ideally i would like to flash a G900F rom onto it but i understand this is impossible?

ReplyDeleteTo unlock your S5 Sprint, you must downgrade it to 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 and unlock it with SSU
